Wrong Battle! Wrong Jersey! Wrong continent!
ReplyDeleteMoise Corbet was governor of the island of Jersey in the British Channel Islands (not the state of New Jersey). Jersey is about 14 miles west of the Normandy peninsula: off the coast of France. He surrendered to a French expeditionary force that invaded the island in 1781. The expedition was in turn deated by British troops along with the Jersey Militia.
